Help!

Hello sports fans! I need a favor. The lab has started a pool for this year's European football championship. Since I've got nothing to lose (except 3 euro) I decided to play. To keep me from picking teams based on which uniform (or, as Georg calls them, costumes) has the best colors, or which country I'd least like to live in (the strategy that caused me to pick the Detroit Redwings for the Stanley Cup) I need your help. If you know anything about soccer, that is. I've scanned in the form - it's in German, but I trust you can figure out which country is which. If you don't know anything about soccer, but your friend/neighbor/creepy uncle does, go ahead and send it to him/her.

I've got to choose the score for each game, and who I think will win overall. I need your suggestions soonish - EURO2008 starts June 7. I'm breathless with anticipation.

OK, so, I asked Frank and here's what he said:

Gruppe A (1:2, 2:1, 1:1, 2:0, 1:1, 0:1)

Gruppe B (0:3, 2:0, 1:2, 1:0, 0:3, 1:3)

Gruppe C (0:2, 1:1, 2:1, 2:1, 2:0, 2:1)

Gruppe D (0:1, 0:1, 1:1, 0:2, 1:2, 2:1)

Viertelfinale (Tschechien-Kroatien 0:2, Deutschland-Portugal 2:1, Niederlande-Russland 2:1, Spanien-Italien 0:1)

Halbfinale (Kroatiien-Deutschland 1:3, Niederlande-Italian 0:1)

Finale (Deutschland-Italien 2:1)

And then he has written Deutschland big underneath "Tipp Europameister."

What I'd like to point out to you is that he has turned this around faster than anything I've ever given him :) Hillarious. He brings it in to me, just a couple of hours after I sent it to him half filled in, smiling happily and pointing at the place where it says, "Tipp Europameister," and says, "Deutschland." And he says that I can fill in the Viertelfinale, Halbfinale, Finale boxes for myself. I blink at the boxes and he takes the paper back, goes back to his office, and returns an hour later with the fully filled out form. He told me not to blame him if it goes badly.

Tom says:

Group A (0:1, 2:1, 1:1, 0:0, 0:2, 0:2)

Group B (0:1, 3:2, 1:2, 0:1, 0:1, 0:1)

Group C (0:0, 2:1, 1:0, 1:2, 2:1, 1:1)

Group D (0:1, 0:3, 0:1, 0:1, 0:2, 0:2)

Quarterfinal
Portugal:Kroatia 1:0
Germany:Czech Rep. 2:0
Netherlands:Spain 2:1
Sweden:France 0:2

SemiFinal
Portugal:Germany 0:3
Netherlands:France 1:2

Final
Germany:France 3:0

When in Germany... do as the germans do. Fill out Germany 3:0 in the final game and work backwards. My results may be warped by my fondness for the Czech Rep. The rest is a highly objective guess.

Right, so, Frank certainly supports Germany whole-hog (to use a term Frank would never ever use) but, looking at the internet, there seem to be a lot of German starters injured. I'm skeptical...

Fantastic! This is very helpful. Thanks Frank, Sara, Kim, and Tom. Sara - you're right, I'm a little worried about Germany. I was watching CNN world sport this morning (CNN is in English) and they seemed to be favoring the Italians, so I'm not sure...
